Guide Review - Callpods Chargepod Multi-Mobile Device Charger
Tired of searching through (and untangling) a mess of power cords every time you run low on juice? The Chargepod by Callpod offers a simple, practical and portable solution for any business traveler.Whats In the Box?
- Base station for connecting devices
- Power cable
- Travel pouch
- Instruction manual
How Does It Work?
Chargepod uses voltage regulator technology to charge phones, PDAs, MP3 players, GPS, Bluetooth headsets, and portable gaming systems safely with interchangeable adaptors.
I was immediately impressed with the small size of the disc-shaped Chargepod, which fits easily into the front pocket of my travel briefcase. Set-up of the unit is effortless: simply attach one end of the 2-inch long adaptors to the Chargepod base and the other to your matching gadget, and let the charging begin.
The sleek design of the base is extremely functional, keeping all of your gadgets safely separated while charging. While the base and power cords are small and light, the power source for the entire unit is a bit bulky. At the time of this review, Callpod was advertising a new, smaller version to be released at the end of June 2008.
Purchasing Info:
The Chargepod is available from Callpod for $39.95, with power attachments sold separately for $9.95 each. I recommend adding the handy car charger ($19.95) to your purchase. Shop around for the best price on sites such as Amazon or Pricegrabber.
Seeing your phone, PDA, earpiece and iPod charging at once (in that one airport outlet that took you an hour to find) will indeed be a thing of beauty. That the Chargepod does this without a tangled mess of bulky cords makes it even cooler. For me, the Chargepod more than lived up to its tagline: One Charger, One Outlet, Infinite Possibilities.
